SCIENTISTS AND MATHEMATICIANS Scientists
could have an important input towards an Indian engineering task
force’s activities. Leaving
aside general nuclear physicists for nuclear energy and the refining and
decommissioning of thorium-based reactors, ED&MFT
considers that scientists are required in the following fields:
Mathematicians
will be needed to help present complex subjects in language that
engineers at all levels can understand. Examples could include
aerodynamics, soil structure interaction, the heat-affected behaviour of
turbines or the vibration and dynamics of high-speed railway carriages. Mathematical knowledge is also necessary to improve computer modelling for engineering purposes. |
