Objectives

OBJECTIVES

  • To review university engineering education and engineering design office procedures and introduce modern concepts eg. Eurocodes
  • To help introduce a professional examination system similar to the British Engineering Council’s tests for chartered status
  • To help update the education and training of technicians, and bring technical staff into boardrooms so as to counter the negative influences of the trade unions
  • To encourage and assist the indigenous design and construction of bridges, ships, rolling stock and aircraft
  • To advise on indigenous uses of resources such as coal, steel, aluminium and thorium, resources which are currently being exported while ships, rolling stock and aircraft etc are being imported
  • To help introduce advanced software to the country’s engineering design offices to as to maximise cost-effectiveness and prevent wastage of other resources
  • To advise on the modernisation of national fabricating shops, reviewing equipment and plant layouts and suggesting more modern alternatives
  • To encourage manufacturing and engineering technicians to join internationally-recognised trade unions (eg. IG Metall) as an alternative to politically affiliated organisations such as CENTU, CITU or AITU
