ABOUT
US
In these pages, we aim to explain some of the problems facing the engineering sector in India, and propose some of the potential solutions. As we see it, the key issues are: RESOURCES: How can the abundant resources of India be better used? INFRASTRUCTURE: What improvements could be made in order to augment India's essential roads, railways and amenities? EXPERTISE: What are the advantages and shortcomings of engineering and technical personnel in India, and how should these issues be addressed? EDUCATION: How are Indian engineers, technical staff and others trained and what can be done to improve the education system? COMMERCIAL: What are the commercial issues facing engineering in India, ie. the markets, demand and funding for major construction projects? How should these be managed? Our VISION and OBJECTIVES are described elsewhere, but in summary ED&MFT's view is that the key need in India, for both industry and the education system, is access to modern European standards and codes. Without these, the state of Indian infrastructure and construction remains 50 years behind. Engineering Dynamics and Metal Fabrication Technologies has effectively been operating since 1995 under the leadership of Mark Sen, a British chartered engineer of Indian origin with over 30 years' experience and membership of several UK technical institutes. Over the last years Mr Sen has sought co-operation from engineering organisations and companies in the UK and Europe in order to bring their expertise to India; he also has contacts throughout the Indian engineering industry.
